What is Pilates?

Respected by fitness and health practitioners worldwide, Pilates is mind-body exercise system on the principles of the late Joseph H. Pilates. Pilates consists of a series of strengthening and flexibility exercises done on a mat or specialized equipment using springs and/or body weight for resistance. The focus is on the core of the body, the abdominals, back and hip muscles. The versatility of the method accommodates and challenges the abilities of everyone from novice exerciser to the most conditioned athletes.
